Talk Description:
On April 3, 2018, a shooting occurred at the Youtube HQ building in San Bruno. The suspect was later identified as Nasim Aghdam, who wounded 3 people before killing herself. This lecture tries to unfold the circumstances which lead to this incident. Using the uncanny format of Nasim’s videos, this lecture, tries to unfold the complications of her life as an immigrant woman who found her calm in her online persona.
Presenter's Bio
Maryam Faridani is an Iranian artist currently living in Chicago. By using moving images, installations and performance, she tries to explore how the given technical systems today leads to creation and maintenance of a particular set of social conditions as the environment of that system.
